SCOTT  BAKULA

Scott Bakula  was born  on October 9th, 1954 in St Louis, Missouri, USA.  
At an early age he had a great interest in music and loved performing. 
While at Kirkwood High School, Missouri he performed in many of the 
local school and theatre productions. 

Scott was musically talented From a very early age, he started a rock 
band and and  wrote some songs. He  Played guitar  and  piano.
For one year before leaving St Louis, Scott, took on many jobs including,
painting houses, worked as a musical director and with Household Finance.

1980, Scott reprised his role as Jesus in "Godspell" in New York 

Scott went to Jefferson College at Hillsboro, acting  and directing in community theatre productions, also composing musicals.
Scott did extensive work in many musicals in Missouri from 1967 to 1976. played the role of Don Quixote at age 20  in The Man Of La Mancha.
Scott realised the Law was not for him and he decided that music and acting were to be his life, and in his words. I decided it  wasn't happening for me and switched my major to theatre.

1983- Scott’s first Broadway debut! Scott played the role of Joe Di Maggio This was Scott's first Musical on Broadway.

And in 1976 he went to New York and spent five long hard years, just trying to build a resume, and get an Equity card. He could not get cast on any  soap opera's, when first starting out in New York. He also worked in many Musicals. 
He was hired for "Shenandoah", and did several small roles in TV.
Scott's first break into TV came when he appeared in two commercials. One, dancing and singing the praises of Canada Dry and the other talking about the amazing Folgers Coffee.

1993- Sang the US National Anthem Philadelphia ,PA Baseball World Series



Scott was promoting his television show "Eisenhower and Lutz" in New York when Broadway beckoned.
Television or theatre.  Scott didn't think one was necessarily better than the other.
Despite the success on Broadway and the fact that "Eisenhower and Lutz" was not renewed, Scott moved back to LA. "It was a gamble, but it paid off fast with Quantum Leap.
Shortly after their return to California, Scott's agent called with two scenes from a pilot script named "Quantum Leap"
What he decided was that he wanted to do good work with good people and enjoy his work while making a living.

1995-   An Aids benefit concert with Madeline Kahn, Angela Lansbury,  Bernadette Peters, in the musical Anyone Can Whistle.

He took on the great part of  Sam Beckett in the many award winning "Quantum Leap. He began Quantum Leap in 1987. he was a time traveller jumping into other peoples bodies, a fun series 
and he starred along-side veteran actor Dean Stockwell. This highly acclaimed TV series earned him a Golden Globe award Unfortunately, the show was cancelled in 1993. Whilst still very popular all over the world.
Scott proved himself to be a very capable Director as well by directing three of the episodes. 
He had a recurring role as Peter Hunt, F Y I reporter on Murphy Brown in 1994. He was in 13 episodes

1996   The Hollywood Bowl. Carol Burnett performed together again, for the grand finale singing a tribute to all the great Hollywood musicals.

In 1996  under the banner of  Bakula Productions Incorporated Scott starred with Maria Bello in  the television  series Mr & Mrs Smith , unfortunately this show was cancelled by CBS after only airing nine  of  the thirteen episodes that were produced. This short lived series is certainly a  credit to Scott  Bakula  and  Maria  Bello for their fine acting. The content of the show was wonderful  and sadly  it's  potential  was  ignored.

1999  -  With Chelsea Field in the play called "Love Letters" Proceeds
to aid orphaned and disadvantaged children.
1980/2001-    Worked steadily on some great TV movies, stage work and in musicals.

And then comes the big news, we all know the responsibility Star Trek actors have, and who better to play a major role in this American Icon     "Star Trek"
In May 2001 Paramount press release this statement: Award-winning actor Scott Bakula.. Has signed on to star as Captain Jonathan Archer, in the new Paramount  Network Television drama series.                

"Enterprise".
Asked if Quantum leap fans and Trekkies would all get along He said I don't think there'll be a problem. I have been greeted by people all over the country already with a lot of excitement. We are already getting faxes from fans around the world.
