Bill Shatner was born in Montreal on March 22, 1931. He wanted to work in Commerce but in College he switched his studies from commerce to acting. HE moved to New York where he expected to do well. This is where he attracted the attention of TV producers. His first TV appearance was in The Goodyear Television Playhouse episode, 'All Summer Long' in 1956. his first break was in. The Brothers Karamazov in 1958. The first TV series he starred in was, For the People in 1965 |

Science Fiction series Star Trek, as Cpt. James T. Kirk.
Bill' worked with Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelley.
I would have to say he is best known for his role as Captain James Tiberius Kirk
of the
Starship Enterprise. Which ran from 1966 to 1969. Starring in
seven of the "Star Trek" movies. Making his directing debut in 1989 with Star Trek V, which
he also co-starred and co-wrote. He was in seven Star Trek Movies from 1979 to 1994 all very successful. |

In addition to his career in television and films. William Shatner is a breeder of quarter horses and
has had notable success with the American Saddle bred. He is actively involved in charitable activities, and also speaks at Star Trek conventions nationwide. Just to name a few of his many
and varied interests. Bill Shatner divides his time between his ranch in northern California, his
horse breeding interests in Kentucky, and a home in Los Angeles. |

Though the Star Trek series was a commercial disaster that never climbed above 50 in the ratings. The original 79 episodes Reruns are translated into 47 languages, and are now on the air more than two hundred times a day worldwide. Between 1973 - 1974 he was the voice of Captain Kirk in the animated series "Star Trek". After "Star Trek" Bill avoided being typecast. With the different role, that of a police officer in "T.J. Hooker." Then the real life drama show "Rescue 911," which we do see here in Australia. |

Bill Shatner has directed films, television and music videos. He has authored and
co-authored several novels including the popular science fiction "Tek
War" series. He also has helped write books recounting his work on the series and the movies.
"Tek War", the first of the "Tek" series and his first novel, was released in 1989 and made the
bestseller list within two weeks. |

Bill has remained visible to audiences in television, films and on the stage. He breeds fine horses.
He also finds time in his very busy life, to help children in need. I salute this man William Shatner.
A hard working actor who aims to please his many fans.
"I'm as desirous of making good as I always was, even as a young actor starving in Canada,"
says the 70-year-old star. Retirement is not in the near future. |
